1 Day Red Dot Sight (RDS) Transition Course

This course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of using a red dot sight on a handgun. This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills required to utilize the sighting system to demonstrate fundamentals in marksmanship and handgun manipulation in the field. What this course covers:

                                       Course is the following below

(1) Safety Policy / Orientation
(2) Sight Alignment, Trigger Control, Accuracy ( .5 Hour)
(3) Target Recognition and Analysis (.5 Hour )
(4) Weapons Clearing / Manipulations (.5 Hour)
(5) Firearm Setup and Firing , Judgment and Decision-Making Exercise(s) ( 5 Hours)
(6) Range Exercise / Student Evaluation / Testing (1.5 Hours)
8 Total hours of Course Time

What Each Student needs for this course.

300 rounds pistol ammunition (FMJ OK must be as close to duty ammo weight as possible)

Service Pistol w/minimum of three (3) pistol magazines Complete Duty Belt

Personal Protective Equipment (eye & hearing) Gun cleaning kit for weapon system

Note taking ( Paper, Laptop, Pen)

This course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of using a red dot sight on a handgun. This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills required to utilize the sighting system to demonstrate fundamentals in marksmanship and handgun manipulation in the field. What this course covers:

                                       Day 1 is the following below from 1 – 8 / Day 2 is 9 & 10

  1. Safety Policy / Orientation 
  2. Moral Obligations (.5 Hour)
  3. Use of Force Considerations (1 Hour)
  4. Policy and / or Legal Standards (1 Hour)
  5. Sight Alignment, Trigger Control, Accuracy ( .5 Hour)
  6. Target Recognition and Analysis (.5 Hour )
  7. Weapons Clearing / Manipulations (.5 Hour)
  8. Live Fire Positions and Marksmanship ( 4 Hours)
  9. Basic Tactical Firearms Situations, Judgement and Decision-Making Exercise(s) ( 6 Hours)
  10. Range Exercise / Student Evaluation / Testing (1.5 Hours)

What Each Student needs for this course.

500 rounds pistol ammunition (FMJ OK must be as close to duty ammo weight as possible)

2-Day Advanced Patrolman Rifle

This course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of using your Patrol Rifle. This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills required to utilize the weapon system to demonstrate fundamentals in marksmanship and Rifle manipulation in the field. (This course is accredited for 16 Hours for OK CLEET, SC SCCJA, GA POST) Please have your department contact us for pricing and course outline for recognition if you are outside of the state of Georgia, Oklahoma or South Carolina.

What this course covers:

● Teach the mission of the patrol rifle. 

● Reinforce the need to apply the Four Cardinal Safety Rules of Firearms Safety. 

● Teach the basic operation of the patrol rifle. 

● Identify the caliber which will best meet our expectations for the patrol rifle. 

● Identify the different ammunition types and which will best meet our needs. 

● Teach the importance and use of the sling. 

● Teach various safe methods of transporting the patrol rifle. 

● Teach the importance of movement and cover when employing the patrol rifle 

● Qualify the student using the Patrol Rifle Qualification Course of Fire. 

● Demonstrate field stripping and routine maintenance. 

● Discuss Patrol Rifle Policy & Procedure considerations.

Student Equipment Requirements:

Operable patrol rifle with a sling (optics optional but must have iron sights) 

1000 rounds rifle ammunition (FMJ OK if bullet weight is the same as your duty ammo)  250 rounds pistol ammunition (FMJ OK)  

Minimum of four (4) rifle magazines 

Service Pistol w/minimum of three (3) pistol magazines  

Complete Duty Belt 

Body Armor and/or Chest Rig

Personal Protective Equipment (eye & hearing)  Sun Screen

Gun cleaning kit for rifle and handgun
